Download Gog Games Without Galaxy

I'm trying every which way to get the GOG Downloader to download my purchase of The Witcher: EE, but for some reason it has trouble with larger downloads (the smaller games, as in 'less than 500MB', don't seem to be a problem). I'm trying different methods of 'Downloading from browser', since I can't get the 2GB chunks within the five hour 'no penalty' time zone that my ISP affords me in the wee hours of the morning. Download Accelerator Plus seemed to be working just fine (I got it to intercept the downloads by way of the FlashGot Mozilla plugin), but when I had to pause and then resume later, I was stopped by an authentication gate.

Specifically, it said 'Authentication required. Site: wpc.11df.edgecastcdn.net'.I tried entering my GOG username and pass, but that didn't work. I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say that maybe the Downloader is having such a hard time getting the The Witcher files because of this very same gate. Especially since the 'output.log' is filled with 'connection failure' and 'cannot query file length'. The servers do support resuming, but there's a trick to it because of the way the URLs expire.

I haven't used Download Accelerator Plus - does it allow you to change the URL before resuming? If so, then initiate a new download but instead of starting the download just grab the URL that it gives you and cancel. Then open your existing download and change the URL to the one you just grabbed, then resume the download. Try to do that in about 10 seconds or less to avoid the new URL expiring. If your download manager doesn't let you change the URL of existing downloads, then try instead.Good luck. I keep forgetting there are comparable open-source versions of overpriced shareware software. I can't start the download now, obviously, but I'll try again in the morning and see if the URL switch thing works.EDITSince you're obviously familiar with FDM, can you tell me how to put a queued download back into a 'Scheduled' state after Starting it? For example, I set FDM's scheduler to only download things between 2am and 7am, but when I first downloaded on of The Witcher's.bin files to it, I Force Started the download to see if it would connect.

After I confirmed this, I couldn't figure out how to put it back into 'Scheduled' mode, just 'Stopped' or 'Paused'.@FujekI've been in touch with Firek (GOG Staff) about this, but today's a UK national holiday, so he's not doing anything until tomorrow. After I confirmed this, I couldn't figure out how to put it back into 'Scheduled' mode, just 'Stopped' or 'Paused'. Right-click on the file to bring up the context menu and look for a submenu named 'Schedule'.

There you can schedule start/stop times for the download. You can tell if a file is scheduled by looking at the icon next to the filename - if the icon looks like a square blue clock when the download is stopped then it has a schedule. BarefootMonkey: Sure. OK, so I figured out that I have to click on the 'Stop' menu item in the individual download's Scheduler menu to set the Stop time. I know it sounds like a 'huhdurr' moment, but when you look at the individual download's menu and then at the Settings menu proper, you'll know what I mean (The Start/Stop time settings in the Main options menu aren't separate, like they are in the download's file).Anyway, since this might take more than one session of five hours, do I set the scheduler to 'Once' or 'On Certain Days' and then check all the tickboxes next to all the days?

GameRager: How can you schedule it if to run automaticallty? The first time it tries to resume the link will have expired and it won't finish the DL. GOG links expire too soon. One alternate solution if you can get the GOG downloader working would be to set up a scheduled task for the GOG downloader in Windows, adding the downloads you want to it ahead of time so it will have them in the list when it gets launched later by the scheduled task, but getting the downloader to close at the end of your download period can be a bit tricky. It was more of a hypothetical question.I pretty much was guessing this was the case already.
