B,I remember that the instructions were included in a separate readme (I think) along with the two files to download. It's been a while, though. The two files are a D3D9.dll file and a Fallout.ini file. The instructions provide information as to where to put the files.If this fix doesn't work for you, and you system is otherwise up-to-date (latest video drivers, Games for Windows Live installed), then your issue lies elsewhere. The download site indicates that the fix is for Windows versions prior to Windows 10, but that appears to reflect that the information hasn't been updated. Works for me and for others running Windows 10.

I managed to get Fallout 3 working on my Windows 10 machine pretty okay by editing the.ini files to have the game run on two cores and used the GFWL remover utility found on the Nexus.The weird thing is that I did the exact same operation on my Windows 7 machine years before and it actually crashed way more.

I even did some other stuff beyond that that made it slightly better but it was still a completely unstable mess. I think it will vary from computer to computer just how well Fallout 3 decides to run, Ive noticed that my Windows 10 machine tends to like older games way more than my old Windows 7 machine. I managed to improve Morrowind's stability heavily by using the compatibility mode, which is really strange since im not used to computers working that way.As others have said New Vegas seems to be more agreeable to modern OS's for some reason so running FO3 using Tale of Two Wastelands is a solution.

New Vegas mods will be compatible that way but old Fallout 3 mods will not, since you're basically just adding Fallout 3's content to your New Vegas install, so keep that in mind.
