Sep 11, 2010  Puzzle-heavy section. This is basically where all the stuff found in the Storage etc belongs to.

Once you have entered the Archive Tunnels, you will need to just keep running as the creature in the water will be chasing you. So make sure to close each door you go through as you proceed.Hint: Some items can be combined in the Inventory (Tab button). You drag and drop one item onto another to attempt a combine.

Amnesia Dark Descent Machine Room

Like with the drill parts.Proceed to the Storage section in order to collect the rods equipment needed to fix the elevator system. But before you can gain access to the area where the rods are at, you will first need to collect 3 drill parts so you can drill 2 barrels that contain the explosive chemicals needed to get to that area. The first drill part will be inside the room to your left as you go down the steps in the Storage area. The rest of the drill parts will be inside the rooms surrounding the room full of barrels.Put together the drill and drill holes in the Primary and Secondary barrels (in either order) and pour the explosive material into the Chemistry Pot you are holding.

You will then use this explosive material to blow up the rocks blocking the path to the next area. You will need to throw any of the small rocks nearby at the explosive in order to start it. Stand back.“He returned the tea cup to the saucer and picked up the orb as one would an apple. And pondered on the strange happenings.”Now that you have blown through the blocked section with the rocks, you can now finally move on to collect the rods needed to fix the elevator system. But you will need to be careful in this area; there is 1 enemy that is inside of the left large room.

I was not able to find out if you can avoid opening (and blocking) this door for you to possibly not run into him later as I do 3 different times. It is worth trying though, but he still may get through. If you do run into him, and cannot avoid him with my suggestions, then RUN! If you are still having trouble running away from him and/or keep dying, run into the nearest room, block the doorway and then hide in a dark corner. I cannot guarantee this will work but it has for me twice, as shown.Once you have the rods, you can head back to the Back Hall and to get the elevator fixed. You now need to find the Machine Room key and 1 more rod to be able to fix the elevator. The last rod is located in the Study Room; it is located in the set of rooms blocked by the rubble. In order to reach these rooms, you will need to break the window and jump along the ledges outside.

The first part of my video does not show this, I return at the end of the video to get this rod. — The cracked window panes are held together only by a weak wooden frame. If only had something to break them, like Gordon Freeman and his crowbar would. П˜‰ You will find the crowbar in the room at the Back Hall where you retrieve Daniel’s Diary 2/3 discussing “Revelations” about Herbert finding the orb.You will find the Machine Room key in the Guest Room.

The Machine Key will be behind the painting in the small room that is jammed to the right. You will need to go to the bedroom to the left to grab the crowbar off the desk in order to open the door. There will be 1 enemy that comes into the Guest Room after you have entered this closet room. But as you will see, I took precautions and blocked both doorways with the chairs lying around. However, I did still hide in the closet just in case the enemy did get through my barricade.Hint: You better find a place to hide, you have no means to defend yourself.Daniel’s Diary 3/3 that is found here too, it has a revelation about The Orb that is all too strange.Once you have the key and rod, you can now enter the Machine Room to get the elevator fixed.“The thin cold mist brushed his face as he stepped outside. London weather could be cruel, but it was the kind of cruelty he could handle.”You need to complete 4 different steps in order to get the elevator system working once again.1. The first step is to move the levers to the correct Roman numeral in the first room, go to the Back Hall to pull the levers to stabilize the flow.

Amnesia

The order from left to right goes down – down – up – up – up – down. This will then make the flow even and stable.2. The second step in the next room downstairs is to place the rods in the correct order from left to right into the wall puzzle, which you were told earlier in a note but it goes as is: green – blue – red.3. To complete the third step bring the cogwheel from this 2nd room, as well as outside of it, down with you to place them onto the spoke on the wall to get the burner machinery working again. The last cogwheel is in the last room, where you complete everything to get the machine running.4. You will need to get coal from the small room filled with it and place some into the burner so you can start the elevator system. When facing the now opened up burner hatch, go to your left and look for coal on the ground to drag and drop that in the burner to ignite it.

There’s more coal on the floor right next to the burner too. Now pull the lever near the cogwheels you placed and it is fixed.

Xbox One X Enhanced: NoHaving originally been developed and released on Steam in 2010, Frictional Games’ first person horror puzzler Amnesia: The Dark Descent has had plenty of time to earn its reputation for being one of the most frightening horror games to ever see the light of day. Amnesia: The Dark Descent was later expanded with “Justine” DLC, and in 2013 it was followed up with an official sequel, Machine for Pigs, developed by The Chinese Room (the studio behind Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture). The two games and DLC would eventually be bundled together and released on Playstation 4 in 2016, and now in 2018 it finally arrives on Xbox One.The first thing to point out is that Amnesia: Collection is merely what it says, a collection of the Amnesia titles and DLC.

Amnesia Dark Descent Mods

This is not a remastered version of the game, and so the graphics are very much what you would expect for a game originally developed eight years ago. That said, Amnesia’s setting is notoriously dark, grimy, and unsettling so the graphics do not feel nearly as outdated as they actually are. The game’s physics, too, suffer slightly from being outdated. Even with increased controller sensitivity settings interacting with items in the world quickly comes off as feeling clunky.

This is particularly noticeable when you’re playing frantically, such as chase sequences with the ghastly monsters sulking around the castle. Amnesia: Collection is not a remaster, and the graphical integrity of the game is certainly outdated. Candlelight is incredibly forgiving, however, and the visual flaws are easily lost in the shadows.Players take control of Daniel, who awakens to find himself in a decrepit castle with no memory of how or why he’s come to be there. Shortly after you begin to explore the castle, you’ll come across a letter that Daniel has apparently written to himself.

This letter sets up the premise of the game, in that Daniel’s goal is to find and kill a specific person in the castle. Fear not, though, you’re not slaughtering an innocent bystander. The letter insists that there’s a good explanation for all of this, but you’re going to have to figure it out for yourself. Its that psychological aspect that makes Amnesia shine. There’s very little in the way of gore or jump scares as Amnesia prefers to let you terrify yourself by creating an unsettling atmosphere. As previously mentioned, the castle is excessively dark and decrepit, with creaking doors and other garish groans from the lurking monstrosities in the shadows. All of these things can be detrimental to a person’s sanity, and Frictional Games uses that to their advantage, making sanity a core gameplay mechanic.

Those monsters that are lurking about are less likely to spot Daniel if he is crouched and hiding in a dark corner or tucked up inside of a closet, but staying in the dark for prolonged periods will cause Daniel’s sanity to slip away. This causes Daniel to panic, limiting the player’s vision and even triggering hallucinations. The only cure for this is it find a source of light, either by using one of the tinderboxes you can find to light candles and torches or using Daniel’s lantern. Just as the dark can cause issues, though, so too can the light. Brightly lit rooms provide little in the way of hiding spots when the monsters come for you.

Amnesia Dark Descent Control Room Walkthrough

This is especially problematic as there is nothing in the way of combat, though Daniel does have the ability to pick up some items in the world such as books and even chairs in order to throw them at enemies. This stuns the enemies for a brief moment, giving the player a chance to run and hide safely. Players are forced to balance their sanity and their safety, as hiding in darkness provides cover from monsters but slowly causes Daniel to lose his mental stability.Amnesia: The Dark Descent is not only utterly terrifying, but also clever with the puzzles it uses to push forward the narrative, and these creative puzzles carry over into the Justine expansion.

They give the player a reason to explore, a motivation for taking the risk to go into one room or another as opposed to simply hiding in a closet and calling it a day. Players may find themselves shocked, however, at the lack of puzzles in the included sequel, Machine for Pigs. Having been developed by a different studio, Machine for Pigs strips away the puzzle mechanics that kept The Dark Descent and Justine so interesting. The Chinese Room opted instead to make Machine for Pigs more of a narrative driven experience, reducing it to essentially being a ‘walking simulator’. Nonetheless, Amnesia: Collection remains every bit as bone chilling today as it was upon its original release eight years ago. Amnesia: Collection consists of Amnesia: The Dark Descent, the Justine expansion, and the sequel, Machine for Pigs. Unfortunately the game has not been remastered for Xbox, so the graphics are pretty much what you would expect for an 8 year old game. However, the use of audio to create a tension and unease is exceptional.

Amnesia The Dark Descent Machine Room Flow

While the physics of the world can feel a little clunky and unnatural, the puzzle and world design, coupled with the perfectly unsettling atmosphere, do plenty to make up for the other shortcomings.
